Dele Alli Banned From Premier League Game Prior to Season’s Resumption

By Ngome Michael

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, Dele Alli has received a match ban, before the official resumption of the English Premier League, for seemingly mocking a coughing Asian man, amid the Coronavirus.

The 24 year-old posted a private video on Snapchat of himself in an airport lounge in February, wearing a face mask zooming in on an Asian man sitting next to him.

Guilty of an “aggravated breach,” Alli has been fined £50,000 and must attend an educational course as part of the FA’s rule that includes a reference to race, ethnic group or nationality.

Reacting to this, the England international said someone on his Snapchat betrayed him by sharing the video with close to 160 people.

In an apology to the FA, Alli explained that his focus on the Asian man was because he was coughing and not because of his race.

With a return to action of the English Premier League on June 17, Tottenham Hotspur will be playing at home against their fierce rivals Manchester United.
