Defending champions of the English premier League, Manchester City have been banned from participating in Europe’s top flight competition, the UEFA Champions League, with a £25 million fine.
This comes after the European football governing body discovered that the club had breached UEFA’s financial fair play rule.
The ban which is expected to commence next season is subject to appeal by City’s officials at the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS).
Manchester City are expected in the days ahead, to face current Spanish league leaders in the first round of the knock-out stage of the European champions League.
