Cameroon is the only team of four African teams involved in the U-17 World Cup to have a started the campaign with a negative result.
Cameroon lost its first match against a team seen as the weakest opponents on paper, Tajikistan, on Monday night. The Indomitable Lion Cubs were beaten 1-0.
Despite having some important opportunities during the match, Coach Thomas Libiih’s players failed to make it count.
Unlike Cameroon, Nigeria, Angola and Senegal all managed to win their first World Cup matches.
Tajikistan occupy first in Group E with 3 points, Argentina second with 1point, Spain third with 1point and Cameroon last with no point.
To hope to reach the second round, Cameroon will have to confront two big teams. Indeed, Cameroon will play its last two games against Spain and Argentina.
Cameroon’s next match will be Against Argentina on the 1st of November 2019.
The next match fixtures for team Cameroon prove to be tough, and it remains highly unclear whether they will be able to sail through to the next round of the tournament.
