Former US Secretary of State for African Affairs, Herman J. Cohen says those clamouring for the independence of Ambazonia will lose international sympathy, should they boycott the national dialogue announced by Cameroon’s President, Paul Biya.

The former diplomat made the remarks recently via his official twitter account.

Mr Cohen said “Cameroon separatists will lose vital international sympathy if they continue to refuse dialogue.”

The former US Ambassador to Senegal and The Gambia further intimated that “instead, they should accept dialogue, but as preconditions, demand release of all political prisoners, a neutral mediator, and government acceptance of their political legitimacy.”

The recent reaction follows denials by separatists to attend the dialogue convened from September 30 to October 4, 2019.
