Cameroonian football icon, Samuel Eto’o has resigned from professional football, after thrilling football lovers for over twenty years.
The legend of the Indomitable Lions, Samuel Eto’o decided to put an end to his career, a few weeks after the end of his contract with his Qatari club which he joined in August 2018.
The 38-year-old attacker on September 6, 2019, announced the news on his Instagram account: “The end. Towards a new challenge … Thank you all, big love,” he wrote.
The Douala native leaves football with very solid achievements. He Made 199 match appearances with the FC Barcelona jersey, won multiple trophies during his long career, including three Champions League (2006 and 2009 with Barça, and 2010 with Inter Milan), two Africa Cup of Nations with Cameroon (2000 and 2002) and an Olympic champion title, also in 2000, with the national team.
Eto’o ends his carrier with 30 major trophies scoring 426 goals and providing 135 assists; one of the greatest strikers in football history.
