Former Douala archbishop, Cardinal Tumi Christian has held a brief meeting with some bigwigs of the Social Democratic Front (SDF) party.
On Friday August 9, 2019, SDF national Chairman Ni John Fru Ndi and the party’s October 2018 presidential candidate, Joshua Osih, visited Cardinal Tumi at Saints Paul and Peter Cathedral, Bonadibong in Akwa, Douala.
Although the agenda of the brief session was not made public, speculations are high that the politicians discussed among other things, the ongoing socio-political crisis rocking the two English speaking regions of Cameroon.
Many believe that the opposition party officials reiterated federalism as a way out of the current imbroglio — a stance which the Anglophone General Conference organisers have emphatically proposed on several occasions.
The SDF is also known to have advocated for the return to a federal system of government as a means of putting an end to the marginalisation of the minority Anglophone people.
Friday’s encounter held on the eve of SDF’s NEC meeting expected to hold in the country’s economic capital, Douala.
