Foncha Street FC Bamenda has been crowned Champions of the North West Regional League after a 2-0 win over Rainbow FC, in the finals played at the Unity Stadium of the University of Bamenda this Sunday.
In the second meeting between the two sides this season, Foncha street beat Rainbow 1-0 in the Cameroon cup preliminaries.
Foncha street opened scores just 10 minutes in the game, when Jean Claude Laimo’s left footed volley got goalkeeper Mbah Derrick beaten, after a goal mouth tussle.
It was then an end to end contest between the two sides until the 37th minute, when Brilant Awamukala Tanwie, confidently slotted in from the edge of the box, to put Foncha street FC two goals up.
Rainbow FC multiplied their chances in the last five minutes of the first half, but could not beat the vigilant goalkeeper Frankline Shalanyuy.
When play resumed for the second half, Foncha Street hit the woodworks with a near perfect free kick, before coach Ngwa Remy brought in Herman Yontsi Yoye, in the place of Joel Samghen Doh. But after all the tussle, Foncha held tight to their two-goal lead.
Foncha Street FC therefore takes their revenge, after suffering a similar 2-0 defeat to Rainbow, in last year’s final.
