Male footballers with mobility impairment In Cameroon have begun preparing ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations for Amputees.
During a local friendly at the Depanda Stadium recently, the National selection trashed a local team in Douala 7-2.
Cameroon was invited as guest team in the september 2019 AFCON in Angola over six months ago.
Speaking to TWIF NEWS after the Douala friendly duel, Fon Dieudonne, one of the players outlined the challenges the squad is faced with.
He intimated that the non recognition of the National Federation of Amputees, lack of an office and inadequate means to purchase visas are some of the huddles the team is facing.
As Fon Dieudonne and his team mates galvanize ahead of the Angola expedition, they have called on the government to support their efforts.
Just like the volley Lionesses recently lifted up the trophy in Egypt, the Amputees have pledged to make Cameroonians proud by winning the upcoming competition.
Fon Dieudonne equally appreciated over 200 spectators who turned out at the Depanda Stadium to witness the game.
Football for Amputee was introduced in Cameroon six months ago.
It is unclear if the government will assist the boys to have a good tournament in Luanda, Angola.
Despite finishing as runner’s up in 2016, Cameroon’s Ministry of Sport withheld the bonuses of players with visual impairment who took part in the AFCON.
