Part of the Yaounde Maximum Security Prison has been ravaged by flames few hours after a massive demonstration organised by Anglophone Detainees.
The inferno engulfed the prison in the nation’s political capital Monday night, July 22.
The wildfire whose cause is still uncertain, is said to have captured the attention of Defense minister who stormed the prison in no time that night.
He was accompanied by the secretary of state in the Ministry of Defence incharge of Gerndermmarie. The two officials as we learnt, arrived the prison in the night while the shooting to stop the demonstrators was still ongoing.
Hundreds of inmates arrested as results of the ongoing crisis in the two Anglophone Regions protested and demanded for freedom.
They want an end to the Anglophone crisis by calling for cease fire.
